Putin Calls Trump Trials Political Persecution, Questions American Democracy’s Health
President Vladimir Putin is of the opinion that the Trump trials are a part of political persecution in the United States. The President of Russia delivered a statement on the presidential campaign of the United States.
President Putin was a part of an economic forum in Vladivostok, a Russian city. He will be holding meetings with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The interview has a question-and-answer session. “Everything happening to Trump is political persecution of a political rival. That’s what it is. And this is happening before the eyes of the United States public and the entire world,” said Putin while answering the questions.
“As for the persecution of Trump, I believe that everything happening at the moment is good. Because it demonstrates the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others about democracy,” he added.
Putin’s words are very similar to those of Trump supporters and a large portion of the Republican population of the United States.
Trump is currently the subject of multiple lawsuits. A recent Georgia Grand Jury Trial brought about several indictments against him and his aides.
Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has been accused of inciting the crowd to carry out the Capitol Riot in January 2021 after Trump’s defeat to Joe Biden.
In this interview, Putin also said that Trump’s effort to negotiate with Russia on the Russia-Ukraine had “pleased him.” However, Putin has reasons to believe the US policy toward Russia will not change, whether Trump wins the 2024 Presidential Elections or not.
