The Victory Of Pride: Singapore Repeals Law Banning Gay Sex
Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Hsienf Loong announced on national television that Section 377A was to be finally repealed.
Section 377A of the Singapore Penal Code criminalizes any form of sexual activity between consenting male adults.
The abolition of the Colonial-era law that bans gay sex has been called out to be a win for humanity.

It will now be considered legal to be homosexual in Singapore. LGBT activists have welcomed the positive nudge from the government.
Singapore, the business hub, has been known for its tendency to hold on to traditional valued which have been often described as “family-oriented”.
Up until last week, the government had decided to hold on to the core values and not abolish the colonial-era law. However, as a policy of appeasement, it had also decided to not prosecute homosexual individuals on that basis.

Things to a turn to positive when Mr. Lee announced on Sunday night that Singapore is now more accepting of homosexuals. The Prime Minister noted that repealing the law would keep the Country at par with the current social scenario.
Global Companies had pointed out that discriminatory laws kept talented individuals from applying for esteemed positions.
The controversial Section 377A was kept in practice in Singapore even after gaining independence from the British in 1965.
Activists who had often called out the law on grounds of being antiquated and discriminatory have considered this to be a win for their cause.
