Trump shuts down rumors about considering Nikki Haley for Vice President
Former U. S. President Donald Trump has outrightly denied the claims that he is considering Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina and the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
Trump cleared the air via his social media account, Truth Social, that “The person is Nikki Haley, she is not being considered for the V. P. slot but wishes her well!”
He denied any possible collaboration with the other Republicans for the potential next election. After Trump’s explanations, Haley still has not ruled out her candidacy for the presidency in 2024, as she said in an interview with CBS News in March. Trump’s decision to eliminate Haley from the shortlist of people eligible to become VP causes more complication in the overall GOP group, which already consists of influential figures like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the VP, Mike Pence.
Haley’s effect in primary races, which accounted for more than 21% of votes in India and almost 17% in Pennsylvanians, is visible. Still, it is too early to see Trump’s campaign take serious action to win over her supporters. The fight for Trump’s vice-presidential candidate has been going on for the past few weeks with potential candidates such as Ohio Senator J. D. Vance, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and New York Representative Elise Stefanik trying to get the position.
As far as Trump is concerned, he also reviews the names of potential Cabinet appointees and monitors their actions on TV. The event of Haley’s meeting with donors next week in Charleston, as reported, is an unofficial get-together where she is not expected to endorse Trump or to ask the attendees to vote for him. The Biden campaign has thoroughly utilized Haley’s popularity in the suburbs by running a six-figure ad campaign in several counties and targeting Haley voters with an ad featuring Trump criticizing her and her supporters.
The campaign officials on the team have also reached out to big Haley donors. Nevertheless, the primary reason he has not embraced the endorsement of the socialist Sanders suggests that he is not taking her voters for granted. The development is viewed as a significant change in the 2024 presidential race, which is expected to be full of surprises as the election nears.
